well: 

第一个well意为“唔，嗯”等，表示惊奇、犹豫、同意等。

第二个well为副词，意为“好；很好；顺利地”等。

before的用法

before在这里为副词，表示“（时间）以前，早些时候，过去”。例如：

She was short before. 从前她很矮。

before用作介词，表示“（时间）早于，先于”。例如：

The darkest hour is before the dawn.

最黑暗的时间过了就是黎明。
