1　in front of…在……前面

[观察] The chair is in front of the desk. 椅子在书桌的前面。

There is a tall tree in front of the classroom. 

教室前面有一棵大树。

There is a desk in the front of the classroom. 

在教室的前面有一张书桌。

[探究] front作名词，意为“前面；正面”。常用短语为in front of…，意为“在……前面”，指某一范围之外的前面。

[辨析] in front of 与in the front of 

(1)in front of指在某范围外部的前面。 

(2)in the front of指在某范围内部的前面。

2　above prep. 在……之上

[观察] The picture is above the bed.

图画在床的上方。

[辨析] on, over与above

三者都表示“在……上”，但位置关系有所不同：

句型透视

—How old is he? 他多大了？

—He is thirty.  他三十岁了。

[探究] “How old are you？”是询问对方年龄的常用句型，相当于“What’s your age？”age为名词，意为“年龄，年纪”。回答时可用“主语＋be＋基数词(＋years old)．”句型。
